Reality Versus Our Version of Reality

His thoughts are our thoughts.

Reasoned Cases For Christ

crown-thorns

When it comes down to our final breath, when the curtains close on this existence that we have been given, there are some who will think that it all turns black and we just cease to exist, that our thoughts just totally stop and that for lack of better words, we are no more. I can understand that logic, I just don’t agree with it.

My wife and I have five children and there isn’t one of them, regardless of their differences, that we do not love with all of our hearts. Not one of them is identical, each one of them has different characteristics and beliefs, yet my wife and I love each one of them, irrespective of their differing characteristics and beliefs. Any loving mother or father will know what I mean. Imperfect parents loving imperfect children. It’s just the way that it is.

When we become adolescents…

It Doesn’t Make Sense | Jon Bloom

Reasoned Cases For Christ

This is a WordPress repost of an excellent article authored by Jon Bloom from desiringgod.org which is both timely and probably one of the best articles that I’ve encountered with regard to understanding instances of evil and despair within the world that are beyond our comprehension. I’m sharing it because not only is it Biblically sound but because the truth it contains is desperately needed.

———————

“It really doesn’t make sense and feels like it can’t be true.” Another suicide.

The friend that texted me had a good friend, a Christian whose faith by all appearances was authentic and vibrant, who succumbed to an incomprehensible darkness and incommunicable despair — a despair that, at least at the moment of final decision, he didn’t believe he could live with. My friend was reeling, blindsided by a tragedy that defies explanation.

We call it “the problem of evil,” trying to reconcile how…

Reflection of Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum

The Domain for Truth

Perhaps one of the most disturbing place I’ve been to has been the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum.  I visited there many years ago.

Here’s a bit about it:

Tuol Svay Pray High School sits on a dusty road on the outskirts of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. In 1976, the Khmer Rouge renamed the high school S-21 and turned it into a torture, interrogation and execution center. Of the 14,000 people known to have entered, only seven survived. Not only did the Khmer Rouge carefully transcribe the prisoners’ interrogations; they also carefully photographed the vast majority of the inmates and created an astonishing photographic archive. Each of the almost 6,000 S-21 portraits that have been recovered tells a story shock, resignation, confusion, defiance and horror. Although the most gruesome images to come out of Cambodia were those of the mass graves, the most haunting were the portraits taken by the Khmer…

MOST BIBLE COLLEGES AND SEMINARIES TODAY ARE IN THE HANDS OF THE LORD’S ENEMIES

MOST BIBLE COLLEGES AND SEMINARIES TODAY ARE IN THE HANDS OF THE LORD’S ENEMIES

 Michael Jeshurun

There came to Him (Jesus) the chief priests and the scribes, and the elders. And say unto Him, By WHAT authority doest Thou these things? And WHO gave Thee this authority?” [Mark 11:27,28].

How history repeats itself! “From WHAT College have YOU graduated? And in WHICH Seminary were YOU trained”? are the modern forms of this query!

[A.W. Pink]

Recently I posted an article by a Brother who clearly exposed and repudiated the error of Transubstantiation or the ‘Real-Presence of Christ in the bread and wine, and the people who were contending for this error, were more interested in the ‘credentials’ of the said Brother than the truth he had presented!

The question to ask is not “WHO gave you the authority to preach” but “Is your preaching in accord with God’s word”? The…

Finished

DSCN2361

The photo is  a little  wonky but this is the finished product . Thank you treats for all of my Moms caregivers as she will be discharged from the swing-bed this week. I haven’t been in blog land lately so most of you don’t know the challenges in my family as of late.

A little over a month ago my Mom fell and although we first thought ..no big deal..it turned out to be a deal after all. Once we had x-rays, a week later, turns out she had fractures on her pelvic and tail bones. Thankfully no surgery came into play but she has been in the care of both UMMC and Methodist Rehab and now finishing up in Baptist Med. Center Leake  swing-bed.  It has been over a month of caregiving and they need to be thanked.

That is what I do when I can’t do much else…craft …to show how much we are thankful for the care she has received. Looking back I probably should have chosen something else but it is what it is and finely they are finished. Too many steps in this project but I hope they enjoy.

Of course they deserve a real thank you card as well.DSCN2360

Now the rest of the story..This card was made several months ago. A couple of cousins were planning to visit their Aunt, my Mom, but had to cancel their trip. I wanted to thank them for making the long trip to visit but since they didn’t I decided to give the card to the caregivers at MR. Well…things got crazy and that never happened so…this card and one very much like it will go to the wonderful caregivers at BMCL. Both the nursing station and the therapy room deserve more than a card and a plop of candy but you get the idea.

Don’t ever underestimate the good that comes from good Christian caregivers. They put up with a lot and are making stars for their crowns.

I seem to have several new followers on this blog and I am thankful for them also. I do need to do this more often but sometime others have such good thoughts and ideas I seem to stay busy reblogging instead of doing my own thing. That needs to change….so please come back..leave a comment so I know you have been here and I’ll be back soon.

Don’t forget…This is the Lords’day..Rejoice and be glad in it.

Love you all…beverly
