Walk Not in the Counsel of the Ungodly

Run With It

Years ago, when I used to watch TV and movies regularly (gave those up in 2008), I watched a movie called “While You Were Sleeping” (1995).

The story line is this: A woman who worked as a ticket seller at the “L” in Chicago had a secret crush on one of the commuters. He fell off the platform, so she came to the rescue and saved his life. Now he was in a comatose state, and then someone mistook her for his fiancé, and his family “adopted” her. She tried to tell them the truth, and then it was hard to tell them the truth because she now had a family she never had before.

The man then awakened from his comatose state only to be told by his family that this woman was his fiancé. But he didn’t remember her. So, his family decided that he must have amnesia…

Scripture for Today Joshua 1:6-9

walkinghumbly.blog

6) Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them.

7) Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.

8) Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

9) Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous? Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

I can feel it coming…

Good read

cookiecrumbstoliveby

Between stimulus and response there is a space.
In that space is our power to choose our response.
In our response lies our growth and our freedom.

Viktor Frankl

I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord
And I’ve been waiting for this moment, for all my life, oh lord
Can you feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord, oh lord

Lyrics by Phil Collins

(a single leaf suspended between tree and earth / Julie Cook / 2021)

I can feel it.
The question however is, can you?

Can you feel it?
Can you sense it?
Or have you been too desensitized to that which is taking place
all around us?

Change– a great, mighty and yes, even grave change is in the air.

Many of us are already well aware that we cannot possibly know the time
nor the place…
But yet, this change…

1200 Miles and Back – A Vacation Story

Our God always comes through.

God's Grace ~ God's Glory!

The following story may be the first of a new category for this blog There are other Wilderness Sagas I want to share in the future. This is an excellent one to start.

by Brittny Bailey

Our annual vacation from Georgia to northern Minnesota is a tradition established across generations; one I married into and have learned to love. The 1200 miles through five states, around mountains, and past endless acres of corn in mid-summer have been a part of my husband’s every summer since childhood.

His dad began these trips sometime in the fifties when he was still in diapers, and this summer our two-year-old began chanting with unbridled enthusiasm, “Sotaaaa!” Uncertain of its meaning, he was doubtlessly informed by all the dinnertime conversation about the place, spearheaded by his dad and readily entertained by his three sisters. Our girls have several years’ experience, and now…

Time to find your Nathan voice.

A Call To The Remnant

As I was reading Psalm 51 the other day, it occurred to me that we refuse to be a Nathan to the world. We will not tell the world what ails them. We refuse to offend the world with the truth. We refuse to tell them that they are guilty. David has a very painful revelation of who he was and what had become of him. It leads to the restoration of his soul. Imagine going to a doctor who only ever told you that you were fine, despite the evidence to the contrary. He refuses to tell you because he does not want to make you “feel,” bad. Yet, the spiritual reality for most of the world is that they are dying and unless they find the cure for what ails them they will die in their sin, the thing that ails them.

In America we love to stand…
