So far today we have only had rain. Having not checked the rain gauge yet I’m not sure how much but the ground is still soaked from the last days of showers. Several days . Earlier this week there has been over 3 inches in the little glass measuring tube. They are calling for more tonight and tomorrow with some being on the serious side. I’m not afraid of storms but do hold a healthy dislike for them especially those that come in the night. Kinda hard to see what is coming and we can’t depend on electric communication sometimes. The NOAA weather radio does get a workout in our Spring storms. And the alarm sound going off sends Babe into the frenzy mode.
Earlier I did take a picture or two of my garden problems.The first is weed MSU identifies as Dock.I don’t think there is a good use for it although the cows used to enjoy me throwing them a pile over the fence . Where it all comes from is a mystery because hundreds of little plants have been dug up and thrown away. The second is the neverending ant. I hate using toxic products but sometimes there is no choice and they still move over to another place only to require more toxic contamination.
The good news is there have been blossoms on the fruit trees and quince bush which the bees just love. No fruit but I keep the trees for the bees. They are eager to find what they can this early.
I’ll be back with more crafty expression soon.( Easter cards and a new batch for Treelady Nursery.)

Terrific photo’s Beverly, and really fabulous post. So chatty and you painted pictures with your words in such a way that I felt I was there with you and seeing what you were seeing.
The Dock Leaves … we’ve always said, in the UK, that wherever there’s a stinging nettle, there’s a Dock Leaf nearby to help with the pain. Not sure if you do this there, but I was taught this from when I was knee high to an ant, that if I got stung by a stinging nettle, then look and find the Dock leaves which would be growing near the nettle, pick one and rub it (well) over the places where I’d been stung, as it helped to take away the pain of the sting. And it always worked. (Although I found that it worked best if I screwed up the leaf in my fist first. Not sure why, but guessing that perhaps me crushing the leaf helped to release whatever it was held in the leaf and so helped take the pain of the sting away.)
I understand that Dock leaves can be eaten too (but not Burdock).
But I’d advise checking the leaves you have growing to make sure that the Dock you have is the safe Docks before you give them a bite. 😉 Safety first, eh?

Not sure I knew this about dock. Will have to look more into this frustrating plant, Thanks for the tip. As some of it is growing in a field of clover there is the real possibility of a bee sting. Would it do the same ? xoxo
hmmm …. not sure. I think that you’d perhaps have to try it and see.
I looked up https://the spruce.com/everything-to-know-dock. It is a sorrel (Rumex) used by herbalist, chefs ,garden designers and livestock. but I didn’t see anything directly to stinging nettle. Maybe the herbalist knows..
