Have you “hugged the cactus”?

Great article on forgiveness from John Zmirak. John is a senior editor at The Stream and author or co-author of ten books, including The Politically Incorrect Guide to Immigration and The Politically Incorrect Guide to Catholicism. He is co-author with Jason Jones of “God, Guns, & the Government.”

The speaker was actor Robert Downey, Jr., whom you might know as “Iron Man.” Some 20 years ago, he was more widely known as a “train wreck,” a hopeless drug addict whose addictions could wreck any project he got involved with. How many celebrities who actually kill people go to prison? Downey harmed only himself, but his drug-driven misbehavior was so in-your-face and notorious, that California prosecutors decided to put him away. For more than a year, in a real-life prison, not some rehab hospital with guard dogs.

Husband Love your Wife Part 1

Perfect thoughts for especially today.

Ephesians 5:25-27

Establish the need:  Husband how are you loving your life?

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.

Purpose: Today we will see the command to husbands to love their wives and also the three motivations to obey God in this area even when it is not easy.

  • Command: Love your wife (v.25a)
  • Motivation: Christ’s sacrifice for the church (v.25b)
  • Motivation: Christ’s sanctifying the church (v.26)
  • Motivation: Christ’s spectacular goal and patience for the church (v.27)

Context

  • Macro-Comment for verse 25-32: For this section on husband there are 116 Greek…

SOMETIMES THERE IS JUST NOTHING TO SAY

Gina Kemp

Sometimes there is just nothing to say. There are some things that happen in life that words won’t heal.

There are some things that take our breath away that only silence can breathe life back into our lungs.

They are the things of life that are beyond someone giving a kind word, a positive hopeful thought, a story of so and so who went through this and that and made it through, a good sermon, an uplifting song. I mean don’t get me wrong, these things help especially when they are blanketed by the truth of God’s word but somewhere a midst the things of life that exceed the realm of platitudes there are just some things that happen that can’t be healed by us and our feeble human attempts.

I think of Job, I think of all he suffered, loss…

It is the greatest story

M. Wiley Wilson's avatarM. Wiley Wilson

Here it is. The Good News (Gospel) in four minutes.

Life is ours. Here is a transcript of the video.

Dare 2 share ministries has produced this video (http://gospeljourney.com/). Email information@dare2share.org for more details. This video stars Propaganda, check out his Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/Propaganda

It’s the full story of life crushed into four minutes. The entirety of humanity in the palm of your hand, crushed into one sentence. Listen, it’s intense right? God. Our. Sins. Paying. Everyone. Life.

The greatest story ever told that’s hardly ever told — God. Yes, God. The maker and giver of life, and by life I mean any and all matter and substance. Seen and unseen. What can and can’t be touched. Thoughts, image, emotions, love, atoms and oceans, God.

All of it is handy work, one of which is masterpiece, made so uniquely that angels look curiously. The one thing in…

Jesus is put out with the Pharisees. Jesus points them and us to the Bible. I am afraid our church leaders are not serving us well and are deceiving God’s people by pretending something that God did (make us male and female) isn’t true. There is a lot to unpack here considering what is going on in our society and culture.

And Pharisees came up to him and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful to divorce one’s wife for any cause?” He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate. [1]

Until you have bee in her shoes…

STLloyd's avatarServe Him in the Waiting

Well, it’s been quite an educational experience as I have been navigating waters through hospital, rehab, and insurance with Mom. We all know that the system is in dire straits, and we know there are those that would have computers and machines replace humans in every aspect of the workforce, but did you know managed care payment is all determined by algorythm? Thankfully there are also Quality Improvement Organizations that make provision for independent review of the computer-generated decisions. If you aren’t familiar with what I am talking about, well, be thankful.

Managed care came along because of waste and fraud. QIO came along because managed care can get overzealous and unreasonably stingey with the benefits you pay for, and refuse to cover your individual need based on aggregated data of a pool of patients of similar profile. So much for personalized medical care!

But the Lord has seen fit…

Yes…What do “we” see?

M. Wiley Wilson's avatarPower of the Holy Spirit

Here is some great insight from Pastor Randy Burbank. To it I say AMEN! God is moving. God is God. God is in charge. God is prevailing. Can you see it?

Expectations are at an all-time high. Some will call me daft and insane for saying such a thing. They will point out that expectations are at an all-time low. And those folks are wrong. The problem is not a lack of expectations–the botheration and vexation is that way too many folks are not seeing what is all around us–make that WHO is all around us. There’s a story about that in the Old Testament–about an unnamed student of the prophet Elisha. Here’s the Reader’s Digest Version of the story. (See 2 Kings Chapter 6)

When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots…

Good read

M. Wiley Wilson's avatarPower of the Holy Spirit

I am extremely optimistic about the year of our Lord 2022. God is God. Jesus is King. We are His people. His Kingdom will come. Consider this from James Robison.

The healing of America is more possible and likely than ever. The path to freedom’s cure in 2022 is certain and more simple than one might imagine. If believers will become the answer to Jesus’ prayer in John 17, we will then begin to effectively fulfill the Father’s dream of His “will being done on earth as it is in heaven.” His kingdom is here — not only “at hand,” but as Jesus said, “within us.” The answers are found in the efforts of his followers and that includes us. As individuals. And as a family.

The family — the body of Christ, the church — is the only force on earth the gates of hell cannot prevail against. We…

Hmmm…Does all of this internet news count ?

cupcakecache's avatarCupcakecacheblog

Mike and I were running some chores and we stopped by Arby’s for a quick bite. The young lady who waited on us stared at me, “Are you Mrs. D?” She went on to tell me that she remembered me as her elementary teacher (2008) at M*** Elementary, the infamous title one school I worked while temp. certified. My mouth dropped open: I was a little cautious. At first, I thought she was one of my students from Saint Leo University Freshman comp. and when I mentioned Saint Leo, her eyes grew big and then she said, “Elementary.” Tampa is such a big place and she told me her family moved often and she was at many schools but she remembered me! It was very typical of this elementary school that the students moved frequently but she remembered my name and face. She is very bright! Sad to say, I…
