Bruce Cooper's avatarREASONED CASES FOR CHRIST

Well there aren’t that many times that my lips are welded shut together but I can assure you, this is one of them (only my fingers are moving). I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. I really don’t know where to start but here goes …..

J Warner Wallace from coldcasechristianity.com  published a post back in June 2013 entitled “Why You Should Write Your Own “Apologetics” Curriculum” and in this particular post he casually talks about the difficulty he encountered finding the right Christian Apologetic Training Course Curriculum material for his group at that time. In this particular post he speaks about the advantages of writing your own curriculum material and his recommendations are obviously valid. But ….. (don’t you love that word), there are a lot of us that don’t have the time available to do that or we don’t have the background experience to tackle something…

Ephesians 6:12 NIVFor our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

Complacency is like a silent cancer. One of the meanings given for complacency is “a feeling of smug or uncritical satisfaction with oneself or one’s achievements“. I think the key words are “uncritical satisfaction“. We hear and read about the pros and cons of having faith in God, and all of it’s variances, with multitudes attacking the idea that there is more than meets the eye to think of and consider, but you’d be hard put to find anyone that doesn’t admit that there is a lot of evil in the world. It doesn’t matter where you turn, whether you’re looking at the news, or in the work place or…

Happy Mother’s Day

I’m not sure If I have Irish blood or not,Scottish probably, but one lucky thing happened on the way to Mother’s day.

The card was made earlier, I try to stay a month a head, but didn’t have an idea for a gift or for the inside of the card.  On my weekly trip  to Walmart, which some of you know isn’t my favorite place to visit,  Bingo!!! there were these  really different and fresh plants.   They are called Sun Star (orange). Well they also match the card I had already made. Perfect match which almost never happens.

Now …here is the lucky ending. On Facebook this morning this poem came up and low and behold the picture behind the poem was the same plant…in orange. This was just a God thing for sure.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you. Leave a little love for all the mothers out there. Doesn’t need to be a pricey gift. Just let them know you care.

This is the Lords day….REJOICE!!!

Please let me know you have paid a visit. It matters…… it really does.

My internet at home has been a problem since the internet provider’s optic cable has broken and been a problem for our area.  But it is fixed this morning hence the delayed post!

Beginning in 2016 I worked on a series titled “How Theology Shapes Marriage.”  Since posting the provincial outline I have added more to the series so I thought it might be good for this Sunday to share this updated table of contents.  The point of this series is to show that theology matter; and matter for marriage since it has implications for godliness in marriage.

Social media is a strange universe to live in. There’s a lot of stupidity, but there’s also a lot that can be learned from various trending issues.

Such was the case recently when Christian social media was up in arms (and rightly so) about Cory Asbury’s worship songReckless Love, and whether or not churches should use it in their worship services. Discussion centered around the use of the word “reckless” to describe God’s love for us and whether or not that was a semantically and theologically appropriate adjective. “Relentless” was suggested as an alternative lyric. “Reckless” was defended as an appropriate lyric. And then Cory Asbury’s explanation of the song came to light and did further injury to his doctrinal cause.

It was all a very interesting and helpful discussion, but, to some degree, it was a rearranging of deck chairs on the Titanic.

‘Cause we’ve hit the ice…

Notorious Babe

IMG_20180402_173229Her name is Sugar Babe but we have always just called her Babe. She came as a replacement for our sweet Tobie .Tobie was ball of fire Pembroke Welsh Corgi. She and my late husband worked the fence around our property and checked the waterline for leaks. Tobie could find the smallest spurt and she knew she was the Queen of JourneyEnd Farm.  She also loved to dig and as a result of that digging contracted Blastomycosis (sp) We had no choice but to let her go over the rainbow. Very sad day.

Now …I have mentioned before that Babe is driving me crazy with her digging. She didn’t start this until after my husband passed . I posted earlier that I had to fence off my flowerbed because she had dug just about every thing up. She is still digging only now it is in the yard. You have to be careful and not fall in. Yes they are large holes and yes I am concerned she may get sick too. I just don’t know what to do about it. Babe is a cross of Corgi (not much) and Mountain Cur. A working dog who doesn’t have any work to do so she cultivates the ground. She can jump to the moon or almost but she has sort of made friends with the grands. This has been an on going relationship of trial and error.
