Just Do It!

Not sure why I have so much trouble posting on my blog. Things just pop up and get in the way ,way to ease. Like today. I had finely made up my mind to just do it and walking to the spot to do it there was an orange. Yes, the fruit orange. Well after eating it I was on my way again and the phone rang. That’s how things happen around here. Now I know what you are thinking..just do it. It is just not that easy for me. Maybe it because things have changed. I started this adventure for one reason and that reason has changed.

I thought I wanted to take part in “card challenges” That is where someone , a person, group or company, post a design challenge. After getting all excited and pulling out an unheard of list of supplies and then getting it all on a card base you post a picture. Well it wasn’t that easy for me. I did do this a few times but then I realized there were about a thousand other crafters doing the same thing and I don’t like crowds. Next I thought about doing what they, the crafters, call a tutorial. (That is just a fancy word for lesson.)but my typing isn’t the best and it requires a lot of photo’s which means you need a better idea of how to do this blogging thing. Anyway ….that is my excuse. So how did I end up in the garden?

Oh yes…the garden ,or what was once my flower garden. With the horrible heat, working past 9 or 9:30am is out of the question, but there is slow progress. It is hard to tell but mulch is down , in one corner and the stone turtle is out of the tangel of weeds. .  This has been extended but no photos.

In the mean time there has been crafting time. Two orders have gone out and a bunch of birthday cards ready to mail.

Thank you for this short visit. Do come again and please leave a “hi/hello so I know you were here. We bloggers like to know we aren’t talking to the walls. hehe..lol

And remember…This is the Lords Day….Rejoice and be glad.

Tiger Lily Dance

Do you remember the little indians dancing around Tiger Lily in the Peter Pan Movie.  Well my Tiger Lilies just pooped out. They put on buds but then when horizontal. I ended up clipping them just to keep the mowers from eating the patch.

So while they were fresh …out came the crafting bug  and  I copied them to perfection. Well maybe not perfection but they did turn out . My DnL was on her way to visit family, way up North, and with her mother having a birthday coming up and having a few health issues I just wanted to send her something to cheer her up. I hope this did it.

Before the Hot

What little work got done earlier is over for now. The garden will just have to remain in limbo waiting for cooler days. They will come here and there …. maybe after a storm or two. We did get rain yesterday that came with a blow but no damage. 9/10 is more than we have had in awhile and it was wonderful.

See the earth worm? They are every where and I’m wondering if they escaped from the DH worm bed. I  haven’t worked the bed much since he left and the last time GT and I checked we didn’t find very many. If they are all in the garden I guess that is a good thing.

Good news!!! The lemon tree is alive and beging to grow again. There is even a very small bud. Isn’t Nature just amazing. Who would have thought this poor ,dead looking tree would pull it’s self up. I ask son #3 several times to just yank it out but now I’m pretty glad he didn’t pay an attention to me.

Next…I’ll show the Tiger Lilies .,..both real and paper but for now  it is bed time.

Remember…….This is the Lords day   Let us REJOICE!

Come back soon….I do think there is more in the pipe line. LOL

What was I thinking cont.

Why wordpress cut me off I don’t know???But then I don’t know alot about this blog thing.

Any way…Back to the altered tin. After a quick sketch of my idea and finding a tin, a Sucrets tin which is different from Mrs. cobs tin, I was well on my way. Finding some already done paper and then shopping for paper clay I began to craft my creation into being. Now WM didn’t have the clear pour which I really needed so without thinking too hard I decided to use glue…as in hot glue. Well…clear  pour would have been a lot better. Not being very patient is a lesson learned here. The little house in the pleasantly receive package was used in the top lid. I wanted it to look “set back” as in way behind the trees. Not knowing really how to make this look that way was a challenge but the on SCS the weekly ” lesson” was on painting with coffee. Yes…the drink..coffee. It sort of worked if you use your imagination.

Paper clay is fun but my modeling skills are wanting. But since the “pond” turned out murkey because of the hot glue…well surely you can tell those are Koi fish down there.

All in all this was fun….Will I do another one?   Maybe…maybe not to soon.IMG_20180609_163452

Thanks for coming by ..Come again and see what else I dream up and “try” to pull together. Practice makes perfect…It just takes a lot of pratice. LOL

Don’t forget…This is the Lords Day…REJOICE

Catch Up and A Miss

I don’t know where time goes or what happens to my time but blog time seems to escape routine. It’s not that I have terribily important things to do even though staying busy does help my situation. Busy busy is mostly what goes on here and not much accomplishment. As you can tell from these photos I am behind in sharing my garden….such as it is. We will start with Easter….yep…that far back. My #1 son and DnL gave me this beautiful Gerbera. Not usually being successful with plants like this I have  been really pleased. Already deadheaded three blooms and more keep coming. YeaIMG_20180520_095042

And then there was Mothers Day. My boys are pretty good at calling or even giving me a pretty card but not usually flowers so it was a wonderful surprise when this showed up on my front porch. Son #2 sent them ( this was the bigest surprise). The little bird nest  didn’t look weather proof so after removing it this petunia now hangs on the back porch so I can keep it watered ( I’m bad about letting plants go dry )and enjoy from the kitchen and breakfast room.

Now to the garden…not much but pretty .. The Mothers Day rose ( wild pink ) always blooms for the occasion and the red three Sisters rose is not far behind. The day lilies have just about dissapeared but there were a few.

Easter Lily came in late to the Spring party and then this morning a Cala Lily showed up.

Isn’t Nature wonderful to behold? The roses are struggling  but a few are picture worthy.

After the crazy Winter/Spring mix we have had the fruit trees are still in question. Only one fig has any sign of fruit, the blueberries have never out done themselves and won’t again this year and the Pom?…..well…..again it is beautiful but has never set fruit.

c

After a short break I will take you on a birthday party extravagancea.  Three for one.

Until then…remember…This is the Lords day….Rejoice and be Glad.

Would enjoy hearing from you….please let me know you were here.

Visit Treeladys Nursery

If you haven’t been you should. Not only will you see beautiful plants but you can get information and advice on all things for your yard and garden.

Now I know those of you from a distance will probably not venture over here but those in the area should. The nursery is a very calming place just to visit and Miss Treelady herself is always so glad for a visit.

You can also shop the gifts and pick up wonderful handmade soap and of course that is where you will find Lateblooming Design handmade paper crafted gardens. Some of these are there.

Plus more. It is always best to support local businesses and local artist. We depend on it.

Need directions? Leave a comment and I will get back to you asap.

Blessing for Easter

How did things get so mixed up about Easter? Some of us are having our celebrations this weekend and there are some not doing it until next weekend.   Since it relates to Passover which I think starts tonight shouldn’t that be the given time. After all….it was at Passover everything we as Christians keep in our heart to remember the grace of our Lord.,

Eggs don’t roll here like they did when the kids were little. There will be church services, family meals and of course the Bunny will leave more candy. Good excuse to grab a chocolate egg which none of us need. I did come up with several card designs for family members and one for a dear friend having health problems but don’t think I made a picture of that one. Let’s see…now where are those photos?

Don’t laugh…it did take me a few minutes to find them. Most will be hand delivered . As much fun as I am having doing these flowers by Susan’s Garden they are crazy to mail.  I have another batch ready to go to Treelady.  Anyone in Central Mississippi really should visit her and see all of the beautiful plants. It is a very relaxing place to visit and you can grab a hand-made paper crafted flower too.

Until next time….Have a blessed Easter Weekend…Remember it isn’t about the Bunny and sing praises for it is the Lords day. REJOICE for He Lives!

Back to the Regular Program

Let me tell you, I have fallen in love with the dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs that are part of Susan Tierney Cockburn’s Garden Notes. She showcases them on Wednesday mornings on live facebook. Check out TheGARDENSPOTLIVE. New die are out and oh my they are so real looking. Takes practice but even she has a challenge or two on the show.

Last week she was demoing her tulips and they kept opening up too much. Well she eventually got hers to stay…mine haven’t just yet.

Trying Something New

Oh the things this world wide web brings into our crafting space. The other day ,somehow I got a youtube video of a  very talented person doing the  craziest thing.  She was making paper wrought iron. Well now…this looked very interesting. Could I?

After copying the design and printing it out I took off. Well first I had to cut all those tiny strips of back paper. You know…the kind used in Quilling. Only these were 1/8″ instead of 1/16″. Let me tell you …It is harder than it looks , but I will keep on until I get this worked out.

DSCN2099

Needless to say I didn’t get the” big picture”. But what was fashioned into a card managed to cover the really rough spots.

DSCN2105

Goodness..it does look better in person. My photo skills are lacking …maybe it is the light  or lack of it on this rain day. Any way It is fun to try new things and I will continue to give it a go. Isn’t there a saying about learning something new every day?

If you are here please comment yea or na or even just hello. That way I will know I’m not talking to my self. And do remember… This is the Lords day…REJOICE!

Only Time Will Tell

Well…..I knew it would be bad but only time will tell if she is able to pull herself out of this . The hoop (green ) house isn’t heated and it must have gotten awfully low on those cold nights.Even in cold weather the house can reach 90 degrees or better on a sunny day but even I can tell she took a real bump. But before the temps dropping for the second day I did harvest the remaining fruit. Total 37 lemons. And this was after selling a couple of dozen and giving away to family at least 2 doz and freezing a couple doz. for my self. Was this her ” last Hoorah”> Time will tell.
