Like a Good Neighbor

What do you do when things go south because you aren’t able to do what you do any longer? Let your needs be known…far and wide. For several months my Mother has been harping, yes harping, for someone to clean off the ditch that runs right behind the house at Hope End Farm. It really wasn’t bothering any one but her . She is deathly afraid of snakes and yes the over grown ditch is close to the house. My Dad used to be able to keep it under control but his age has hindered him from doing anything around the farm for several years now.  We are fortunate to  have someone who cuts the hay fields and keeps it from going wild but the ditch had really just taken off and it was a mess.

Every time the good Dr. D. Perry would come around Mother  would ask, ” Who would know how to clean the ditch out.” She just felt like he ,having property himself, would know someone in the area who could get the job done. Little did we know he did know someone…several someones who would be willing to come help out. On Saturday morning, bright and early by  Hope End standards,  the good Doctor and about 8 or 10 other good souls along with good heavy equipment showed up and like clock work working together cleaned out the ditch. Yea! Really cleaned it out. My sister and I would have been the rest of the winter trying to do what they did in short time.

What we did not know is that the good Dr. is head of missions at his church.

Walnut Grove Baptist Church of Walnut Grove , Ms. is growing mission minded young people. They jumped in the dirt and tackled the briers and lifted the very heavy boulders that were brought to the surface from the digging.  And the good adult men were generous with their heavy equipment to make ‘hay’ in no time at all. Having the right stuff with the right people sure was nice. Thank You Dr. Perry and the folks from WGBC. and may our God continue to bless each of these caring neighbors.

Thank you for coming to moreinkpleaseblog.com and do come again. You just never know what will be blogging .Leave a comment so I know you were here and follow so you will know when I return.   Until then…Remember…This is the Lords day…Rejoice and be glad.

Love to each of you,      beverly   aka    Late Blooming Designs

Tiger Lily Dance

Do you remember the little indians dancing around Tiger Lily in the Peter Pan Movie.  Well my Tiger Lilies just pooped out. They put on buds but then when horizontal. I ended up clipping them just to keep the mowers from eating the patch.

So while they were fresh …out came the crafting bug  and  I copied them to perfection. Well maybe not perfection but they did turn out . My DnL was on her way to visit family, way up North, and with her mother having a birthday coming up and having a few health issues I just wanted to send her something to cheer her up. I hope this did it.

Yippie YI Yo Kayah

What to do when there are three birthdays so close together? Why….Have one big party of course  and that is what we did. Going out in the boondocks to Lovern’s Arena ( North of  Philadelphia, Ms.)

we had us a party to put all partys to shame. ( I’m so glad this grandma didn’t get lost because some others did. lol)

The three oldest grands invited their friends, and family too, to ride the bull, catch a chicken and a little pig before taking a horse ride around the arena and finishing up with a buckwagon ride around the countryside.

By special request this grand ma made the outfits for the day. GT got a new pair of chaps and the girls, EA andAM, each got cowgirl skirts and a vest. Cutest little cowpokes out there.

Friends coming to share their special day was a blessing. I think everyone had a grand time at the arena.

IMG_7460

On a crafty note…the road out to the arena was just beautiful with Blackeyed Susans and Queen Anns Lace wild flowers on both sides of the road. So…Thanks for stopping by. Until next time…..This is the Lords day….Rejoice.DSCN2157

Catch Up and A Miss

I don’t know where time goes or what happens to my time but blog time seems to escape routine. It’s not that I have terribily important things to do even though staying busy does help my situation. Busy busy is mostly what goes on here and not much accomplishment. As you can tell from these photos I am behind in sharing my garden….such as it is. We will start with Easter….yep…that far back. My #1 son and DnL gave me this beautiful Gerbera. Not usually being successful with plants like this I have  been really pleased. Already deadheaded three blooms and more keep coming. YeaIMG_20180520_095042

And then there was Mothers Day. My boys are pretty good at calling or even giving me a pretty card but not usually flowers so it was a wonderful surprise when this showed up on my front porch. Son #2 sent them ( this was the bigest surprise). The little bird nest  didn’t look weather proof so after removing it this petunia now hangs on the back porch so I can keep it watered ( I’m bad about letting plants go dry )and enjoy from the kitchen and breakfast room.

Now to the garden…not much but pretty .. The Mothers Day rose ( wild pink ) always blooms for the occasion and the red three Sisters rose is not far behind. The day lilies have just about dissapeared but there were a few.

Easter Lily came in late to the Spring party and then this morning a Cala Lily showed up.

Isn’t Nature wonderful to behold? The roses are struggling  but a few are picture worthy.

After the crazy Winter/Spring mix we have had the fruit trees are still in question. Only one fig has any sign of fruit, the blueberries have never out done themselves and won’t again this year and the Pom?…..well…..again it is beautiful but has never set fruit.

c

After a short break I will take you on a birthday party extravagancea.  Three for one.

Until then…remember…This is the Lords day….Rejoice and be Glad.

Would enjoy hearing from you….please let me know you were here.

Treelady’s Nursery

This is it. The most delightful plant nursery to visit I’ve ever been too. It is back in the woods off of a gravel road. Quite and peaceful and you just want to sit a spell, drink a cup of herb tea and listen to the birds and the bees. Yes there are bees so beware. That is why everything looks so good.Bees pollinating the flowers and fruit treesand making that honey you will see for sale in the shop. Lots of good stuff here. Handmade soap and personal care products ,hand stitched items as well as handmade greeting cards. The plants are beautiful, well cared for and well…those of you close by need to visit. You will be glad you did.

Still learning?????

This blog has been on going for awhile, just hasn’t gotten of the ground.  Why is my text repeating it’s self over and over? So lets try this again…..

Like I’ve said before life keeps getting in the way of progress here. I get started then bam…something calls me away. Like…before Thanksgiving when my DH had a heart issue and had to have two stents put in. Then he had to have extensive oral surgery to get ready for  heart surgery that the Dr.s have now decided is to dangerous. Which is fine since we weren’t really looking forward to that.  Meds and life change is working out pretty well. Still some problems but hopefully the future will take care of that.

Our new granddaughter was born on Dec, 6. Just as pretty as her other sisters and her brother. Yes 4 under 4.  Busy family but fun fun fun.

Several weeks ago, or maybe a month or so , time flies, our herd bull passed away. This is Tank…

Tank on the ground

Tank on the ground

New man on the ground at Journey End Farm. The girls are happy, he is happy with all the girls and we are looking forward to his babies coming someday. Our grandson announced he wants a bull but he want him to have horns and be either green or yellow. Lol.   No horns thank you.

Learning something new. I have been very interested in Chameleon Blends pens. They are kinda pricey but so are the other options. There is a learning curve but so far I kinda like them and we will see if I order more. Being refillable is a plus. This card is my first attempt. Simple. The next picture is the inside which has a book mark. Sorry the sentiment doesn’t show .

Valentine candy box

Valentine candy box

This box is what I gave my son’s and DnL’s for Valentines. Good ole chocolate inside of course. Having recently discovered Lia Griffith I am learning how to make her beautiful paper flowers. Hers are so pretty and so real looking. the rose is my first attempt but I will make more. You can find her at Liagriffith.com .  All of her paper crafting is so nice. Not just paper but of course I am drawn to the paper.

Thank you

Thank you

We have a sweet friend who has been under the weather, which is no place to be, and since Teal is her favorite color …well…this designer paper just cried out to me for her.  She is better and I do hope she has a need for Thank You cards. Don’t we all at times?

Card box

Card box

Of course cards requires a gift box and yes the best things in life aren’t things at all.

Please let me know if you stumble upon this blog.   Any one interested in my fun thing can get in touch and let me know. I would love to introduce you to paper crafting , or farm life as we know it.  Until next time…Remember…This is the day the Lord made…Rejoice! (even if it is too cold to be happy about much except Spring which is just around the corner)

Where has time gone?

Oh, goodness I don’t have any idea where it has gone. It has been a while since I have posted ,but goodness how do bloggers do what they do. Surely others have email to go through, snail mail, laundry, meals to fix, gardening, grandma things and all sorts of time eating daily activities. How do they do all this and blog too??
Now,since we left off,way back in July…that is July .. the garden has hit bottom and after moving and removing I have a new crafting space. My 4 year old GS has started 4 year pre-school and and I have opened an Etsy store for my handmade cards etc. Please check it out, leave a “like” and “follow” so more traffic will come my way.
Lets see if I can find something to show you.

Butterfly mobile

Butterfly mobile

Yes! This was made for my sweet GD and her 1st birthday. The butterflies are die cut from cardstock and hung on fishing line.(Of course all cardstock is from Stampin’Up!).
It hasn’t been put up yet, not sure why, but it will flutter in the breeze of the window air conditioner when they do.
The common day lilies were really pretty this year.
DSCN1172

And when picked late evening they are especialy pretty. TDSCN1175he picture isn’t the best but trust me, a bowl or basket full is no longer common.

Well. I will get back in the grove soon, but until then check out the Etsy store at http://www.etsy.com/shop/LatebloomingDesigns. you might also want to go to the Stampin’Up! page at http://lateblooming.stampinup.net and see all the new stuff and check out the specials . More than I can list. Need help? Just ask.
Until later…Remember..This is the day the Lord made…Rejoice!

Yankee Invasion

Mississippi Welcome

Mississippi Welcome

If you don’t know already, I live in Leake Co. Mississippi. My DIL’s family (mother, aunt, 2 sisters and nephew) have come for a visit to the Grove Estate. They are from MA. Long way off. I really think they just wanted to see all of my DIL’s livestock. She has her very own zoo. Chickens..some hens…some roos…ducks… “glass box” fish, an illusive cat and several dogs.( Six or seven at last count.) This poor girl should have been raised in the country, on a farm, instead of concrete. She loves animals of all kinds. I didn’t count all the birds nesting in and around their place.
To be proper in a Southern way I needed to make something, crafters are in need of making something, so they would know we do have hospitality down here. The picture above is the something I came up with. A small package of gift cards. Here are the colors etc.

Two of the packs are the same. Then the next two are the same also, just different than the first. Now that makes since doesn’t it. lol

First Pack:
Paper: White CS (probably from Walmart) is the base
on all cards.
Layers: New In-Color from SU
Blackberry Bliss,
Hello Honey
Lost Lagoon
Mossy Meadow
Tangelo Twist
Stamped Layer white CS then
stamped with Morning Meadow in the
matching color
Small pearls added to three
flowers
Envelopes: white heavy printer
paper made with the punch board and
lined with matching color DSP

Second Pack :
Paper:white CS.
Then on one there is a butterfly ( colored with the new Blendabilities markers Daffodil Delight) and cut out to layer on base. Next is a stamp from So Very Grateful colored with the Blend markers in Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana and Old Olive ,small rhinestones added to two flowers. Another of the same stamp but colored with Rose Red, Wisteria Wonder, and Wild Wasabi with the water brush. Next: Stamped flower from Morning Meadow in Calypso Coral twice and punched one out to add layered on top. Then just added Crystal Effects to center. Last but not least Stamped from Simply Sketched in Certainly Celery (retired) and Crystal Effects on the berries
Envelopes were also made from white printer paper and lined with a matching color DSP

Tags: Daffodil Delight CS punched with the scallop top punch along with a layer of All Abloom. A piece of doily is under the punched out pansy shape in Tangelo Twist CS with Petite Petals in Daffodil Delight held together with a brad from retired Subtles minibrads. Finished off with a leaf of Mossy Meadow and an Artisan label in white CS layered in Blushing Bride CS.

All of this is tied up in cello bags with Daffodil Delight Seam binding and a thin green with white dots ribbon from WalMart

Goodness. This was long but I do hope they enjoy giving their next gifts with these gift cards and will remember the South. Ya’ll come back you hear!

Enjoy the 4th and remember … this is the Lords Day …Rejoice!

It not all Cards

Here at Journey End Farm it’s not all cards and stamps and ink and glue and tape. Nope there are flowers for real.Image

The picture turned out really bright but the common day lilies are bright and so pretty even it they are gone by morning.

I read a nice story ,years ago, in the old Victoria magazine about a lady who raised day lilies. Every evening she would go out

and”pick flower” . She would fill baskets and vases’ and buckets and bowls with every color in the rainbow from her garden . Can’t you just imagine the beauty. Next morning she would just dump them in the compost pile and wait for the evening again. Beautiful way to enjoy Gods creation.

Here is a picture of one of my gifts to Anna Marie on her first birthday.

Butterflies…lots of butterflies and one sweet baby girl growing up way too fast.

There is also a new baby of a different kind but just as important to us farmers.</pNew baby heifer calf>

Do have a great weekend…until later. Remember… this is the Lords Day…Rejoice!

New 2014-2015 Catalog

One word of caution…the new Blendabilities Markers will not be available until later this month or the first of July. Except for demonstrators…we will get to that in a few minutes. I think the company is staving of back orders with this and just don’t want anyone to be disappointed with not receiving their order pronto. the new markers are so much fun to use, with a little practice, and really beautiful. Smooth coloring for sure and the name “Blend” is perfect.

Now for the later… Demonstrators can order the new markers.Even new demonstrators. AND…until June 30 you can get a starter kit for $50.00 that includes $55.00 in products of your choice. Of course you can also get the $99.00 kit and receive $125.00 in products of your choice. Both options will get you a 30% discount on your first qualifying order of $150.00 within 45 days. Plus you will continue to receive the 20% discount later as a demonstrator if you decide to continue. Of course there is no pressure to continue. There might even be a surprise included with your kit. Oh, new demonstrators can even get a free ticket to the convention in Salt Lake city later in July. How cool is that?

Now, back to the new catalog…Do you scrapbook? Hold on to your hats…Stampin”Up! has formed a partnership with Becky Higgens the founder and developer of Project Life memory system. Now you can get all of her ideas for documenting you family and special memories in Stampin”Up! famous colors where every thing goes just perfectly with what you are doing. It could not possible be any easier.
