Nature’s Inspiration

DSCN1717I love the wisteria vine. Yes it can be overtaking , but has such a sweet smell and brings on Spring like none other. My cousin gave me this vine several years and while she and I both hoped it would be purple ….white will have to do. So….I’m learning to “grow” Susan’s Garden from Elizabeth craft designs and it is time consuming,  but well….what do you think?

Go # 30 Day Color Challenge

Go:  You gotta start some where.

Everything at once

The month of Feb. was full. First there was the On line Watercolor Class for Card Makers…Intermediate Techniques. Really good information and good examples of the teaching principals. Then there was the Gratitude 52sketchbook project by Jennifer Frith that confirms  up to this point why I don’t scrapbook. It has been enlightening and thought provoking  just not my thing. Only proud of a couple of pages so far. Maybe it ,or, I will get better as we go. Next was Sandy Allnock’s Paintalong. Now I know I really need better supplies. Boy…my wish list at Simon Says and Ellen Hutson ( or is it Hudson) is growing.  Now it’s time for the Butterfly drop.

What is the butterfly drop? Awhile back Dina Kowal was ask to paint a butterfly for  the Butterflyeffectbethechange  organization. Of course her butterfly was beautiful as is all of her artistic creations. I thought…why not give it a try… so after getting in touch they sent me a blank wooden butterfly to paint, hide and let someone find  (hopefully) and then have $250. donated to the charity of their choice.  Next weekend is the drop. More information will be in the local newspaper on March 10 and the drop will be on March 12. I will post early clues on this blog on that day. Here is a picture of my creation.DSCN1497 Good luck to all who go for it and please let me know who you are.

Now…remember…This is the day the Lord made…rejoice and be glad.

Long time no see.

Yes, it has been way to long. Life just gets in the way or maybe I am just terribly slow . any way…there is color challenge over at the Daily Marker by Kathy Racoosin and I have been trying to keep up. Well…maybe not running a race here but here are my coloring attempts.

Now that's a butterfly

Now that’s a butterfly

I really enjoy learning from all of these really good “stampers” . It is very time consuming to watch all of the video’s but goodness I don’t want to miss anything. I do have to use what I have and that means simple supplies at my work station. No Copic (yet) but I do have  a couple of Chameleon ColorTones sets and left over SU Blendabilities and  a watercolor set that my grands use. Of course the usual SU markers too. There are probably some left over watercolor pants from way back but they will be in the bottom of the craft closet and I haven’t looked lately. Both my younger sister and I were art majors in collage but like I said that was a long time ago.

Now not to make this any longer than necessary would you like to see a few things made for the grands? OK  here we go…..

L's one year

L’s one year birthday

My number 5 grand and number 2 grandson turned one this past April. Goodness he might be grown before I get to hug him, but that is another story for another day. I understand his room is decorated with moon and stars so …..

Next up is number one grand and number one grand son  who just turned 5. Oh me…His party was all about Super Hero stuff and his

mom made all of the children super capes to fly around in.. This was my card…. and this was his gift.

Up,up and away

Up,up and away

He loves the UP movie and came in one day and said ” Bebe, I need an adventure book” so what else but an adventure book had to be made. Now he can fill it with all his dreams and discoveries.

That’s it for today. Who knows maybe tomorrow will bring more of what I have been up to.

Let me remind you that …   This is the day that the Lord made…Let us rejoice

Until next time do have a good day

Still learning?????

This blog has been on going for awhile, just hasn’t gotten of the ground.  Why is my text repeating it’s self over and over? So lets try this again…..

Like I’ve said before life keeps getting in the way of progress here. I get started then bam…something calls me away. Like…before Thanksgiving when my DH had a heart issue and had to have two stents put in. Then he had to have extensive oral surgery to get ready for  heart surgery that the Dr.s have now decided is to dangerous. Which is fine since we weren’t really looking forward to that.  Meds and life change is working out pretty well. Still some problems but hopefully the future will take care of that.

Our new granddaughter was born on Dec, 6. Just as pretty as her other sisters and her brother. Yes 4 under 4.  Busy family but fun fun fun.

Several weeks ago, or maybe a month or so , time flies, our herd bull passed away. This is Tank…

Tank on the ground

New man on the ground at Journey End Farm. The girls are happy, he is happy with all the girls and we are looking forward to his babies coming someday. Our grandson announced he wants a bull but he want him to have horns and be either green or yellow. Lol.   No horns thank you.

First try

Learning something new. I have been very interested in Chameleon Blends pens. They are kinda pricey but so are the other options. There is a learning curve but so far I kinda like them and we will see if I order more. Being refillable is a plus. This card is my first attempt. Simple. The next picture is the inside which has a book mark. Sorry the sentiment doesn’t show .

Valentine candy box

Valentine candy box

This box is what I gave my son’s and DnL’s for Valentines. Good ole chocolate inside of course. Having recently discovered Lia Griffith I am learning how to make her beautiful paper flowers. Hers are so pretty and so real looking. the rose is my first attempt but I will make more. You can find her at Liagriffith.com .  All of her paper crafting is so nice. Not just paper but of course I am drawn to the paper.

Thank you

Thank you

We have a sweet friend who has been under the weather, which is no place to be, and since Teal is her favorite color …well…this designer paper just cried out to me for her.  She is better and I do hope she has a need for Thank You cards. Don’t we all at times?

Card box

Card box

Of course cards requires a gift box and yes the best things in life aren’t things at all.

Please let me know if you stumble upon this blog.   Any one interested in my fun thing can get in touch and let me know. I would love to introduce you to paper crafting , or farm life as we know it.  Until next time…Remember…This is the day the Lord made…Rejoice! (even if it is too cold to be happy about much except Spring which is just around the corner)

Where has time gone?

Oh, goodness I don’t have any idea where it has gone. It has been a while since I have posted ,but goodness how do bloggers do what they do. Surely others have email to go through, snail mail, laundry, meals to fix, gardening, grandma things and all sorts of time eating daily activities. How do they do all this and blog too??
Now,since we left off,way back in July…that is July .. the garden has hit bottom and after moving and removing I have a new crafting space. My 4 year old GS has started 4 year pre-school and and I have opened an Etsy store for my handmade cards etc. Please check it out, leave a “like” and “follow” so more traffic will come my way.
Lets see if I can find something to show you.

Yes! This was made for my sweet GD and her 1st birthday. The butterflies are die cut from cardstock and hung on fishing line.(Of course all cardstock is from Stampin’Up!).
It hasn’t been put up yet, not sure why, but it will flutter in the breeze of the window air conditioner when they do.
The common day lilies were really pretty this year.
DSCN1172

And when picked late evening they are especialy pretty. TDSCN1175he picture isn’t the best but trust me, a bowl or basket full is no longer common.

Well. I will get back in the grove soon, but until then check out the Etsy store at http://www.etsy.com/shop/LatebloomingDesigns. you might also want to go to the Stampin’Up! page at http://lateblooming.stampinup.net and see all the new stuff and check out the specials . More than I can list. Need help? Just ask.
Until later…Remember..This is the day the Lord made…Rejoice!

Yankee Invasion

Mississippi Welcome

Mississippi Welcome

If you don’t know already, I live in Leake Co. Mississippi. My DIL’s family (mother, aunt, 2 sisters and nephew) have come for a visit to the Grove Estate. They are from MA. Long way off. I really think they just wanted to see all of my DIL’s livestock. She has her very own zoo. Chickens..some hens…some roos…ducks… “glass box” fish, an illusive cat and several dogs.( Six or seven at last count.) This poor girl should have been raised in the country, on a farm, instead of concrete. She loves animals of all kinds. I didn’t count all the birds nesting in and around their place.
To be proper in a Southern way I needed to make something, crafters are in need of making something, so they would know we do have hospitality down here. The picture above is the something I came up with. A small package of gift cards. Here are the colors etc.

Two of the packs are the same. Then the next two are the same also, just different than the first. Now that makes since doesn’t it. lol

First Pack:
Paper: White CS (probably from Walmart) is the base
on all cards.
Layers: New In-Color from SU
Blackberry Bliss,
Hello Honey
Lost Lagoon
Mossy Meadow
Tangelo Twist
Stamped Layer white CS then
stamped with Morning Meadow in the
matching color
Small pearls added to three
flowers
Envelopes: white heavy printer
paper made with the punch board and
lined with matching color DSP

Second Pack :
Paper:white CS.
Then on one there is a butterfly ( colored with the new Blendabilities markers Daffodil Delight) and cut out to layer on base. Next is a stamp from So Very Grateful colored with the Blend markers in Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana and Old Olive ,small rhinestones added to two flowers. Another of the same stamp but colored with Rose Red, Wisteria Wonder, and Wild Wasabi with the water brush. Next: Stamped flower from Morning Meadow in Calypso Coral twice and punched one out to add layered on top. Then just added Crystal Effects to center. Last but not least Stamped from Simply Sketched in Certainly Celery (retired) and Crystal Effects on the berries
Envelopes were also made from white printer paper and lined with a matching color DSP

Tags: Daffodil Delight CS punched with the scallop top punch along with a layer of All Abloom. A piece of doily is under the punched out pansy shape in Tangelo Twist CS with Petite Petals in Daffodil Delight held together with a brad from retired Subtles minibrads. Finished off with a leaf of Mossy Meadow and an Artisan label in white CS layered in Blushing Bride CS.

All of this is tied up in cello bags with Daffodil Delight Seam binding and a thin green with white dots ribbon from WalMart

Goodness. This was long but I do hope they enjoy giving their next gifts with these gift cards and will remember the South. Ya’ll come back you hear!

Enjoy the 4th and remember … this is the Lords Day …Rejoice!

Any questions? http://lateblooming.stampinup.net to order

Paper Players #201

Paper Players#201

Paper Players#201

This was a small challenge for me. While the new DSP All Abloom is really pretty ( if you are into wall paper- which I am not) things started coming together then fell apart really fast. Just too much! Here is the fix….

Base: White Card Stock
Layer: #1 Mossy Meadows ( love this green)
#2 All Abloom DSP
Tag: #1 Daffodil Delight and All Abloom
#2 Calypso Coral ( because I don’t have Strawberry Slush) and Daffodil Delight. This is where some of the question came in. Too plain, so I added another layer of DD (because the tag has already been glued down) and embossed it.. ok…better but now the butterfly.

Butterfly: Daffodil Delight CS –Love DD but to much yellow ,so added another smaller die cut stamped with Calypso Coral. Still bad..so ..added a White CS die stamped with Calypso Coral. Much better to my way of thinking any way. Now to jazz it up a bit add Basic pearls so the butterfly has a body and scatter a few here and there to help balance the white peaking out on the base.

Well such is life in my world of crafting and card making.

There is always room for learning and beside this doesn’t have any thing to do with the price of eggs. lol

Do take a look at my web service at Stampin’Up! http://lateblooming.stampinup.net and let me know if I can be of help to you .If I can’t answer your questions I know people who can.

Have a great week and Remember…this is the Lords Day…Rejoice.

It not all Cards

Here at Journey End Farm it’s not all cards and stamps and ink and glue and tape. Nope there are flowers for real.Image

The picture turned out really bright but the common day lilies are bright and so pretty even it they are gone by morning.

I read a nice story ,years ago, in the old Victoria magazine about a lady who raised day lilies. Every evening she would go out

and”pick flower” . She would fill baskets and vases’ and buckets and bowls with every color in the rainbow from her garden . Can’t you just imagine the beauty. Next morning she would just dump them in the compost pile and wait for the evening again. Beautiful way to enjoy Gods creation.

Here is a picture of one of my gifts to Anna Marie on her first birthday.

Butterflies…lots of butterflies and one sweet baby girl growing up way too fast.

There is also a new baby of a different kind but just as important to us farmers.</pNew baby heifer calf>

Do have a great weekend…until later. Remember… this is the Lords Day…Rejoice!

I’m on a roll

Well, not really but here is another card that I think turned out pretty well.

Best Thing

Best Thing

Love these colors. They look happy .
The sketch came from a Simon Says Stamp email a while back.

Base: White CS
Layer #1 Watercolor Wonder DSP
#2&3 Crushed Curry CS and White CS
Flowers: Pansy punched out of Calypso Coral with Basic Rhinestone colored with Daffodil Delight Blendabilities Marker.
Leaves:Wild Wasabie CS die cut from secret Garden

Come stamp with me. You can do it too. Stampin’Up! makes it easier because things just match so well. I think they know what we want and they give it to us and it just gets better every year.
