Everything at once

The month of Feb. was full. First there was the On line Watercolor Class for Card Makers…Intermediate Techniques. Really good information and good examples of the teaching principals. Then there was the Gratitude 52sketchbook project by Jennifer Frith that confirms  up to this point why I don’t scrapbook. It has been enlightening and thought provoking  just not my thing. Only proud of a couple of pages so far. Maybe it ,or, I will get better as we go. Next was Sandy Allnock’s Paintalong. Now I know I really need better supplies. Boy…my wish list at Simon Says and Ellen Hutson ( or is it Hudson) is growing.  Now it’s time for the Butterfly drop.

What is the butterfly drop? Awhile back Dina Kowal was ask to paint a butterfly for  the Butterflyeffectbethechange  organization. Of course her butterfly was beautiful as is all of her artistic creations. I thought…why not give it a try… so after getting in touch they sent me a blank wooden butterfly to paint, hide and let someone find  (hopefully) and then have $250. donated to the charity of their choice.  Next weekend is the drop. More information will be in the local newspaper on March 10 and the drop will be on March 12. I will post early clues on this blog on that day. Here is a picture of my creation.DSCN1497 Good luck to all who go for it and please let me know who you are.

Now…remember…This is the day the Lord made…rejoice and be glad.

#Watercolor day 4

Everything:  Oh Shari, I don’t have a coffee cup any where. I know how popular they have been and they do crop up everywhere but now on my shelf. My brain went to sleep on the one.

Thinking of you my friend: Tasmini did a sweet number here and I do have a bicycle stamp!  Again more work needed . Wet on wet doesn’t mean flood zone.

Autumn notecard:  Oh dear…Sandy ( Miss perfection) In my dreams can I do what she  does. Love Sandy Allnocks work. Again, nothing to compare. My stamp collection, though pretty extensive is lacking . Will try this another time.

Hello:  Now, I really thought this was going to be apiece of cake. No! Messy, but after  a bit of work it is passable. Splatters always help.

So very Grateful turned out to be a big mess for me. Again, wrong stamp image. Should have taken more time and come up with something but got discouraged. I do love the  way Dawns falling leaves turned out. I did sprits my water but my pigments just don’t spread. Could be the paper or could be the paint or could be just me. Will have to work on this.

Lifting:  So Very grateful (rose)  Dawn does this so easily. I’m still blaming the supplies but I’m’ also sure someone else could take them and make a masterpiece. I did manage to get some lifting.  LOL  “Don’t rush when painting a flower like this”. Dawn is right. This is probably my biggest problem.

Building a scene:   Oh goodness…this was a nightmare. Really! None of my stamps are suitable for a scene. This poor little Super hero is all I could come up with and the background is a smudgy mess. (where is Sandy Allock when I need her? She did something like this and it way great.) Oh well… more to keep trying.

Day 2 cont again

So I had to just make it a Mardigras  Party Card.DSCN1499

We are continuing to learn how our brushes work along with water and pigment.  Dawns card is Cornflowers. Good lesson just need to practice and loosen up a bit.

Day 2

Her next card is Birthday 16 Wishes….Varigated wash here. Again the paper used and the pigment really makes a difference as to how things turn out. Hard to mess up , but I did. Need  more work on this a little more. Surely it is the supplies and not just me. LOL. My take is  a sympathy card.

Well…I gave myself a birthday present. Some of the talent I follow offer online classes  and after staying away from real watercolor for years ….well it was time to jump back into the water pot. I have enjoyed every minute but now realize it won’t be a walk in the park.   The class is  Watercolor for card makers intermediate techniques. Most of the lessons are being taught by Dawn Woleslagle. Very talented lady. There are also several other talented young women who really do offer a lot to learn from.  Here is my take on the class.

Day 1: Wet is wet and too much is a flood. Lesson here is work on the amount of water on the paper and in the brush. Oh..no.. I don’t have any outline stamps. Maybe a more complete material list would have helped. Plus time to order since there is only Walmart in my area. Any way …my idea didn’t work so on to the next practice.  Now…about erasers…..need to learn more about what works with what. Mine smudged. Dawns first real card is called Bonjour . Still learning how to use the brush strokes…here is my version

Turned out pretty well. Simple background. Could use some improvement but it’s ok. Will be in the mail this week to a friend.

To be continued
